Valerie Downs

Hip Hop Instructor

Valerie is the founder and director of the NOVA Dance Club, home to many of the area’s most talented Break Dance, Hip Hop and Popping dancers.

At the young age of five, she made her first stage appearance as part of the Ravel academy’s annual dance recital.  Since then, she has studied Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Modern, as well as Belly Dance,

Burlesque and Salsa at various dance establishments in the D.C. area.

In high school, Valerie was on the cheerleading team and has served a long stint as the lead choreographer for the annual fashion show. 

On the performance front, she performed on stage at the Kennedy Center as a member of the Shim Chong troupe, was a backup dancer for the famous Swedish artist Basshunter and has made regular appearances at B2D's semi-annual "Awaken The Dancer Within" galas.  

Valerie joined the Born 2 Dance Studio faculty in 2011.
