Kajal is a Managing Director at Dhoonya Dance School and Performance Company—DC's premiere creative center for Bollywood-inspired modern South Asian dance. Dhoonya Dance offers technique-based and low to high impact workout courses to kids and adults of all ages in the DC, VA, and MD areas.
Dancing since the age of three, Kajal has taken courses in Tap, Jazz, "Street Dance," and even Clogging. But it is Garba and Indian folk dance that link Kajal to her roots and culture, and are what motivated her to pursue a career in South Asian dance.
She has received professional training in Kathak and has experience with a Bollywood dance troupe in the state of Gujarat, India. She has won first place in the solo category of the city-wide dance competition in Gujarat.
Since Dhoonya Dance's inception, Kajal has performed with other members at the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Asia Heritage Festival, Asia Society's tribute to Mira Nair, Regional DC Boogie Woogie competition and many other private and public events.
