Kamallata Singha

Bollywood Dance Instructor

 

Born in Assam, India, Kamallata made her debut on India's National Television Network (Doordarshan) at the tender age of four.

 

In 1993, she appeared in the Bollywood movie Akanksha, which premiered in the U.S. Her well-reviewed performance landed her a gig as the hostess of the popular T.V. show Namaste Asia.


As a member of the Washington Performing Arts Society, Kallamata was involved in teaching and performing classical Indian dance for kids of various ages.

 

Kamallata has won various dance awards, such as the prestigious Maryland State Arts Council Award for Best Individual Artist. She has also won Top Teacher Award during her tenure with Arthur Murray Dance Studio, in addition to various championships and scholarships at different D.C., Maryland and Virginia Ballroom competitions.

 

In 2010, she joined Dhoonya Dance, the Washington, DC Metro area's premier Indian Bollywood dance company.

 

Kamallata joined the Born 2 Dance Studio faculty in 2011.
